  • As I understand it, Google Voice causes calls to be routed past Apple's voicemail system, which means visual voicemail is, in effect, not in use at all if Google Voice is.

  • One, it disabled a couple features of the iPhone. (Visual Voicemail was one, I don't remember the other.) This one strikes me as reasonable. I think most companies wouldn't want to approve a third party app that actually altered the way their product worked. YMMV, of course.

  • Starting with the 3G Apple included a temperature sensor, if the phone gets too hot for it to operate correctly, it will shut down and won't power on until it's cooled. I've only seen that happen a few times and under extreme conditions, or as a result of the phone getting wet.

  • A few weeks ago our DSL started going out whenever it rained. We've had AT&T DSL for about 5 years now and this was the first time we'd had this problem, other than our phone lines have been horrifically static-y.

  • I have come to the conclusion that Watchmen, no matter who made it, would never have been a commercial success, as the book has never been a commercial success (maybe it's the best-selling graphic novel of all time, but it's not The DaVinci Code in terms of sales).

  • How are Sony's retail efforts doing? I've been into a Sony Style store once, it was nice and had lots of stuff on display, but rather empty. One of the staff remarked that he'd never been into the Apple Store in a complex literally across the street because "It's always so busy there."
